{"id":138,"date":"2013-11-06T21:28:20","date_gmt":"2013-11-06T20:28:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/alphawriters.net\/new\/?page_id=138"},"modified":"2026-09-24T09:56:53","modified_gmt":"2026-09-24T08:56:53","slug":"challenge","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/alphawriters.net\/new\/challenge\/","title":{"rendered":"Challenges"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Season 23<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Challenge 2<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this Challenge you have a theme \u2014&nbsp;<strong>Darkness<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You may write either a poem (without line-end rhyme) or a piece of prose, but there is a restriction:&nbsp;<strong>The writing must not contain any mention of humans.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So no pronouns: I, you, he, she, my, their etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">nor any named people, e.g. no Mrs Jones or John etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You may refer to things which imply humans eg \u2018footsteps in the mud\u2019, or \u2018washing on the line\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You have up to 300 words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Darkness can be&nbsp;<strong>literal or metaphorical.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Challenge 1<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first challenge of the season is to write the opening moments of a blockbuster movie, or a new TV thriller series or a stage play. Yes\u2026this is a script writing challenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can choose any genre, but the piece must be gripping.
