The season is beginning to take shape, and although there are still details to be added before the full picture emerges, I\u2019m sure you\u2019ll agree that the \u2018blank page\u2019 I mentioned on our first Alphaday is now showing signs of developing into a busy scenario that will make us all keen to join in and share the joys of writing.<\/p>\n<p>The size of the Alpha Group of Writers is intended to be just right for enough diversity of talent, interest, personality etc. to make it lively, while at the same time allowing us to know each other as individuals rather than blank faces in the crowd.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s been a real pleasure to meet this season\u2019s newbies and hear your reactions to our ways and find out something about you and your writerly ways.<\/p>\n<p>The size of the group also means that everybody is involved. Each Alphaday is the product of your input and everyone has contributed something. Call it teamwork, if you like. The main fact about Alpha is that we share our passion for writing by writing and writing about writing. (Repetitiveness? Oh dear, I do apologise!)<\/p>\n<p>Many thanks to all those Alphas who have been busily occupied over the 3-week interlude to provide plenty of treats for us to enjoy on this Alphaday.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s the agenda for Alphaday 2:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This bulletin from Christine (me!)<\/li>\n<li>The collated entries for Challenge 1 from Sue<\/li>\n<li>The brief for Challenge 2 from Olaf<\/li>\n<li>The Log from Leslie<\/li>\n<li>The Writers\u2019 Reads from Morgan<\/li>\n<li>A showcasing piece presented by Suzanne<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Doesn\u2019t that look mouth-watering?<\/p>\n<p>Of course you\u2019re all aware that the organisers of the above treats \u2013 or Alphaday slots \u2013 rely entirely on contributions from the rest of us.<\/p>\n<p>There should be plenty there to keep you entertained for a while. Hopefully there will also be something that you might want to bring up for discussion or just comment on.<\/p>\n<p>Next Alphaday we\u2019ll get the results and comments on Challenge 1. That will make it a full agenda and the season will be in full swing. Feedback is an important part of our Alpha routine. We need it, and we appreciate it. The Showcase pieces also benefit from your feedback, of course.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve had some good discussions already. I found your experiences and comments on courses for writers fascinating. As for dangling modifiers and their musical side-kicks and the further forays into TV series I just love the way we tangent (not a nice verb, but there goes! Couldn\u2019t write \u2018tango\u2019, could I?)<\/p>\n<p>The Alpha Decade Book is currently in the throes of proofreading. Not an easy procedure, but I\u2019m sure it\u2019s all for the best. If any of you, who\u2019re not contributors, feel inclined and generous enough to take on a story for proofreading, we could do with the extra help. Just let me know.<\/p>\n<p>Have a lovely Alphaday and immerse yourselves in the pleasures of writing. Forget the muddled world we live in for a while and indulge in what makes your world a good place.
