While I was doing my duty as your coordinator and busying\nmyself coordinating the various items on today\u2019s agenda, I caught myself\ncommitting a writerly faux-pas: the single word \u2018last\u2019 popped up more often than\nis compatible with a decent writing style. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019re\napproaching the end of Season XV. There are only three Alphadays left after\nthis one, and we will devote those to finishing outstanding tasks and doing our\nusual assessment of the season. I\u2019ll send out a list of questions that I\u2019d like\nyou to answer, and you\u2019ll suggest improvements and faults to be put right.\nYou\u2019re welcome to don your thinking hats and start considering our strengths\nand weaknesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But\ndo not put your writing tools away just yet. We still have a very full schedule\nthat will stir you into action for quite a while. As can be seen from the\nfollowing agenda:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>This\n     bulletin from me<\/li><li>The\n     results of the newspaper headline challenge from Zena<\/li><li>The\n     collated entries for the Location challenge from Phil<\/li><li>A\n     call for entries for The Open Page, 3<sup>rd<\/sup> edition from Christine<\/li><li>A\n     call for Log contributions from Sally<\/li><li>A\n     Writers\u2019 Reads prompt from Morgen<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>All\nthese goodies will pop into your inbox in the course of the day and although\nthey may all have a whiff of that \u2018last\u2019 word about them there\u2019s certainly\nenough to keep the Alpha cogs whirring productively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s\nno particular Alpha news; we muddle on and enjoy what there is to enjoy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nonly event on the dramatic stage of this world that\u2019s left a positive and\nuplifting glow in my mind is that 16-year-old Swedish girl with Asperger\u2019s\nsyndrome, Greta Thunberg, whose campaign for action to halt global warming has\ncaught the entire world\u2019s attention. She is passionate, intelligent and\nconvincing when she talks and how can one do anything but applaud her brave\nefforts?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\ndid shed a tear when la Cath\u00e9drale de Notre Dame collapsed in flames, but the\nsubsequent cash-rush somehow diminishes the tragedy. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Christine<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hi Alphas, Welcome to Alphaday 11, Season XV.
