Make the most of it, Alphas, as we\u2019re nearing the\npoint where we\u2019ll be counting the various \u2018last events\u2019 of the season. We\u2019re\nstill going strong and enjoying the usual stimulating input prepared by our\nteam and supported by contributions from the rest of us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This\nAlphaday\u2019s full agenda is as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>This\n     bulletin from me<\/li><li>The\n     results of the literary challenge from Stephen<\/li><li>The\n     collated entries for the \u2018Fear\u2019 challenge from Morgen<\/li><li>The\n     brief for Challenge 8 from Phil<\/li><li>The\n     Alpha Log 5 news from Phil<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>As\nyou can see: it\u2019s all there, ready to wing its way into your inbox in the\ncourse of this Alphaday. It\u2019ll be our last regular challenge of the season as\nwe\u2019ll finish off with an exuberant&nbsp; Open\nPage flourish. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s\nno particular news from individual Alphas this time. Perhaps the Log will bring\nus some good news to celebrate on behalf of some happy Alphas. That would be\nmost welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>General\nnews.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\nlooks as if all cultural events are drowned out by the invasive \u2013 and\nfrightening \u2013 corona virus pandemic. Something that\u2019s so powerful as to cause\nthe cancellation of everything from international book fairs to sports and even\nthe Eurovision contest is (probably?) more scary than our worst imaginings for\nour latest challenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nmost effective advice we\u2019re given seems to be to practise social distancing.\nOur solitary garret where we hide from the world to write our masterpieces is\nshrinking fast. Outside there\u2019s danger \u2013 an invisible threat that can be\ndeadly. Stay at home and work from home if at all possible, we\u2019re told.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s\nwhere we can enjoy our sociable Alpha activities that have always been based on\ncommunication via email. If we\u2019re excluded from the grim reality outside our four\nwalls we can turn to Alpha and keep up our usual friendly concentration on our\nshared interest in writing and all that that entails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s\nmake the most of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Christine<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hi Alphas, Welcome to Alphaday 10, Season XVI.
